Hair Removal Options for Face

Looking for laser hair removal options for your face? No matter what your budget is, there is something that will work for you without breaking your bank.

Removing facial hair has become quite the struggle for many. It takes loads of time and energy, and can be quite frustrating. If you are plagued with unsightly facial hair, you may be wondering how to get rid of it. The good news is that there are quite a few options for you to consider that are pretty effective. No matter what your budget is, there is something that will work for you without breaking your bank.

Hair Removal Options For Your Face

Facial Hair Removal – Waxing

First up, we have waxing. Waxing has been a preferred method for a long time. Waxing is often done by applying a soft hot wax to the area, and then pulling out the hairs with strips of cloth. There are also hard wax solutions that you allow to dry completely, and these don’t require cloth strips. Both ways are just about as equally effective at removing facial hair. It is most commonly used on the upper lip, eyebrows, cheeks, chin, and neck areas.

This popular method of hair removal may prove to not be the ideal solution for everyone, as it does lead to skin irritation and it hurts. If you go to a salon for waxing and they have an inexperienced waxing consultant on staff, you may also find yourself with painful ingrown hairs due to retained hair follicles being trapped under the skin. While it may seem like the best way to go if you want to get rid of the hair quickly, it is a painful process and does have some risks. You can minimize these risks by going to someone who knows what they are doing.

Facial Hair Removal – Plucking

Another all time favorite facial hair removal option is plucking. This is actually not one of my favorites, because it goes so slow. It does offer you the best precision, if you have the patience to deal with plucking hairs one by one. To pluck your facial hairs, simply use a pair of tweezers. Just remember that you need to clean your tweezers before you use them, otherwise you can end up with an infection. We recommend that you clean them in warm soapy water, and then rinse them and dry them all the way.

Plucking is most commonly used with the hairs around the chin area or the eyebrows. Other areas of skin that have a lot of hair may not be as suitable because it will take too much time and effort. If you are using plucking to tame up your brows, remember to keep them even and start out slow. It is better to pluck not enough than to pluck too many! You don’t want to be drawing on your brows because you overdid it with the tweezers.

Facial Hair Removal – Shaving

Shaving is commonly used among men with facial hair, but women see it as a viable option for them as well. This is especially true if they are in a hurry and just don’t have the time to pluck or wax. Many people try to steer clear of shaving in fear of their hair growing back thicker than it was before. This, thankfully, is just a myth. Just watch out for razor burn. Make sure that you use an effective shaving cream, and a moisturizer afterwards that helps to cut down on skin irritation. The drawback to shaving is that it doesn’t last very long at all. There is a reason men are notorious for a 5 o’clock shadow. Shave in the morning, and chances are it will be starting to grow back before the day is over with.

Facial Hair Removal – Topical Creams

Just about everyone has heard of depilatory creams to get rid of hair, but these creams have a bad reputation for smelling horrible. The good news is that they have made a lot of advancements with these creams over the years. Typically, these creams use a chemical that breaks down the bonds in the hair and weakens it. The only problem that you need to watch out for is allergy. If you are allergic to these creams, they can leave you with an awful rash that is itchy, burning and painful. The best way to use these creams is to first use a test area of skin. This will help you to rule out any allergies so that you can use it with confidence on your face. (Note – please do not test on your face, as this area is much more sensitive and will also leave you with a rash on your face if you do happen to be allergic.)

Facial Hair Removal – Laser Hair Removal / Electrolysis

Laser hair removal is gaining in popularity as a method for removing facial hair. Both laser hair removal and electrolysis are semi-permanent to permanent solutions. While you will have to undergo multiple treatments, you will find that it is the longest lasting approach to getting rid of facial hair. Laser hair removal and electrolysis are very similar, however electrolysis only targets a single hair follicle, while laser hair removal can target a small area with multiple follicles. Both are pretty pricey though, but still offer some of the best results that you can get with laser hair removal. These options both use concentrated heat or light to get rid of the hair from the source, therefore preventing it from coming back later.

There you have it – the most common types of hair removal options for your face. Instead of just dealing with the unsightly hair, why not use one of these methods and get rid of it? Whether you are looking for a temporary fix, or you want something that will offer a bit more permanent of a solution we are sure that you will find these methods to be effective.
